The distributed Agile process starts by consulting with the product owner (the client) as the team assigned to the project begins dividing up the work into functional increments.  These increments are known as “user stories” and each one helps to create a simplified description of a requirement which will contribute to the overall product.  Your team will consist of a small group of individuals who are committed to the project from start to finish. 

  

Another important component that makes distributed Agile methodologies in software development so successful is the “daily standup” or meeting.   Typically done at a set time each day, it brings everyone up to date allowing the team to share completed tasks and describe any obstacles that are impeding progress.

Iterative development is also a key practice in the Agile process.  This is the step that breaks down software development into smaller units with code designed and developed to be revisited and tested in repeated cycles.  Incremental development ensures that “each successive version of the product is usable, and each builds upon the previous version by adding user-visible functionality.”  Once a product is finished or at a certain designated point in a project, the entire team will spend time evaluating and analyzing key events.
